Top-quality guitars, mandolins, violins, banjos, and other instruments for musicians of all acoustic genres

My 100th instrument, an x-braced red spruce and maple F-model mandolin is finished, and it's special indeed.

A double bass is underway. It's a big project, but not so big that I can't take other orders. Go to What's happening now for up-to-date photos and info.

A West Virginia band, Aurora Celtic, now plays four Skipper instruments. Here's an unsolicited testimonial from band member Mike Broderick.

Just finished is this red spruce 000-S, a sweet little guitar with a voice to match. Also recently finished were a dreadnought guitar, a violin, and a bluegrass banjo. Click on any of the thumbs below to access photos and descriptions of the entire process. If you'd like to know more about these instruments, or how to create a custom instrument of your own, send us an e-mail.

I'm honored that my instruments are now also available at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville; search their inventory for "Skipper" to see what's on hand -- and they're priced right!

If you'd like to watch me at work, this recent youtube documentary of my work came from FSU's Appalachian Studies program. Be sure to watch all three parts.
